August 2, 2011 Republicans/Rick Snyder have it all wrong. Corporations in MI are doing well and many sitting on piles of cash. They will not hire another soul unless they have more customers and they're not going to get more customers until the middle class(=consumer spending) is brought back to life. The TARP bailout showed that money given to industry will only fatten bloated bonus pools and increase politi ...
Heide Loney August 1, 2011 Diversify...we are more than cars, more than Great Lakes/tourism. Michigan has so much to offer, the film industry should be welcomed, as well as windmills for energy and farmers. Michigan based businesses deserve special in-state treatment.
Alan Valiquette July 25, 2011 If all Michiganders would stay in Michigan for their vacations and buy local when they shop, it would turbo charge our economy and help pull us out of this recession vortex we are in. Also going to college in Michigan, you would get a world class education. There is so much to do in Michigan that it would take decades to discover all the Michigan things that we have at our fingertips.
Ralph Husemann July 22, 2011 Start making the water bottlers pay a tax on our precious resource water that our previous Governor Engler would not tax. All other business/companies pay taxes why not the water bottlers.
Patty Preuss July 21, 2011 Raise the sales tax from 6% to 7%; lower the sales tax on Michigan made products from 6% to 5%.

July 20, 2011 I have long thought that if employees must pass a urine test in order to be employed; so should welfare, state employees, and any others, including state representatives of all parties. Lets clean Michigan up and be a shining light to other states that it can be done. I have always resented welfare recipients, who are able to work, being couch potatoes, when I was working.

My husb ...

July 19, 2011 Very briefly, this is a two-part idea. One costs nothing, the other does.
While traveling around our state, take notice of how many signs there are--everywhere. Road stripes tell us we can't drive in a lane, but then we have signs every 20 feet stating "No Parking" "No stopping" "Fire Lane", etc. I'm all for safety, but I think we could save money, make things look more natural and beaut ...
Barry VanWagoner July 18, 2011 When I see that we in Michigan want to balance the budget, seems we overlook one very good source that would balance the budget and have a huge surplus of funds every year....#1..place a 10% excise tax on all golf packages and supplies....and use 100% of money from lotteries for the schools as it was intended for when we voted for lotteries in Michigan....and no dipping for other entities....

July 9, 2011 First of all, get a Facebook page for Positively Michigan, and a "like it" button on this website! I think you are right - who would know better what Michigan needs, what resources we have, etc., than Michiganders themselves? Getting into the social networks can expand your opportunity for getting ideas. I'm a website designer (betherequick.com) and I know for a fact that the businesses that I wor ...

July 7, 2011 Improve the legal climate for LGBTQ citizens and stop the legislative persecution regarding domestic partnership benefits. I am a retired educator, a longtime taxpayer, and a township and non-profit volunteer. My partner and I are actively considering moving to a more hospitable state because we can no longer stand the climate of bigotry. We have many friends who feel the same way--all productive ...
